Make your own homemade Liqueur and more.

Make your own homemade Liqueur and more with these easy homemade recipes.  These recipes also make wonderful fugal gifts.

Amaretto
This is a homemade version of flavored vodka that tastes similar to Amaretto.
This version can be used to flavor your baking recipes, sipped, added to coffee, or to make drinks that call for Amaretto in them. Makes a wonderful gift.
1 C water
1 C granulated sugar
1/2 C brown sugar
2 C 80 proof vodka (not flavored kinds!)
2 TBS Almond extract
2 tsp vanilla
Combine water and sugars in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, and let cook until all sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool for about 10 min.
Add Vodka, almond extract and vanilla. Store in a sealed bottle.
*Note: Allow mixture to cool so it is not too hot when adding alcohol so the alcohol will not evaporate when added.

Homemade Bailey’s Irish Cream
1 C Cream
14oz can Sweetened Condensed Milk
2 C Whiskey
1 tsp Instant Coffee
2 Tlbs. Chocolate Syrup
1 tsp Vanilla extract
1 tsp Almond extract
Mix all ingredients together well and refrigerate, overnight.
Keep refrigerated & use within 3 weeks.
This is a great gift but remember it contains cream & condensed milk (although the recipe doesn’t have raw eggs like many others) it must be refrigerated.
More variations:
Try this in coffee or in a milkshake. Yum!

Big Kahlua
2 C Sugar
2 C Water
3 Tlbs Instant Coffee
1 Vanilla Bean or 1 Tlbs. Vanilla Extract
2 C Vodka
In sauce pan mix together water, sugar and instant coffee.
And simmer until sugar is dissolved. Allow mixture to cool completely so it is not too hot when adding alcohol so the alcohol will not evaporate when added. Stir in Vanilla and Vodka and pour into a dark bottle to age.

Homemade Egg less Eggnog
8 Cups Milk
1 Pk Instant French Vanilla Pudding
1/2-Cup Sugar
2 tsp Vanilla
Mix together the pudding with 1 cup of milk and chill to let it thicken. Once thick mix in the rest of the ingredients. Keep chilled.
Variation:
A shot of rum can be added
Non-alcoholic variation:
Add 2 tsp of Rum extract
 More variations:
Try sprinkling a little nutmeg on top for extra flavor.
Can be made with powdered milk although not as thick and creamy as the store bought brands.

Homemade Hot Mulled Wine
1 Bottle Red Wine (drinkable, but cheap!)
1 C Sugar
2 Cloves
1 Cinnamon Stick
1 Orange, Unpeeled & sliced
Combine all ingredients and warm thoroughly, either in a saucepan or crock-pot.
Variation:
1 C Brandy can be added
Non-alcoholic variation:
Try cider, apple juice or cranberry juice instead.  Start with 1/2 C sugar and adjust upward for taste.

I’ve made the Kahlua before. My mom used to make peace brandy every year. One year when we were having dinner, a jar of it exploded in the closet…what a mess! LOL

I’m gonna try to Bailey’s Irish Cream. I wonder if that would freeze? Sounds good as ice cream.

Hi Deb, I have never tried to freeze it but that is a wonderful idea. Or maybe mix it with vanilla ice cream and refreeze. Let me know if you try it before I do. I want to add your blog to my blog roll but I have to figuare out just how to do it. LOL! Hard to teach old dogs new tricks.
